Things to remember throughout this process!

  • If a prompt doesn't work for you and your dog, that's okay. Make art or capture a photo and/or video doing something that does work, and then share a story about that. We don't all fit into every idea, and that's okay. The beauty of our connections is in how we show up. It's okay to share the struggles and differences along with the triumphs and connections. It's all a part of your story, and your story is worth telling.

  • Never ask your dog to do something they're uncomfortable with for a photo opportunity. Their safety is number one.

  • Be open to the possibility that something other than what you're trying to capture will happen. The in-between moments are always the most magical, so welcome them with an open heart.

  • YOUR ART DOES NOT HAVE TO BE "GOOD." Yes. This is something I've struggled with in my art - being afraid to try new things because I think I won't be any good. And it's true, a lot of the time, my art is ugly. But the real beauty is in the process of creating. How I feel while I'm making art is what matters. Experimenting along the way, working through the ugly, embracing the ugly, reimagining what "ugly" even is. Eventually, "ugly" and "good" no longer matter. Only the journey of creating something that came from my heart. Let yourself do it wild, make a mess, be okay with whatever you make not turning out how you expected - that just might be the exact thing you need.
